Women's Economic and Environmental Empowerment Program
Through this program, AWO aims to strengthen women’s engagement in economic activities and their effective participation in the decision making processes at different levels, as well as promoting women’s better access to natural resources and other essential services from a rights-based perspective.
During the last decade, AWO implemented different projects with the aim to engage women activists and women-led organizations on economic and environmental sectors.
1- Economic Empowerment:
Since its establishment, AWO fights against poverty by focusing on women through
projects/initiatives that provide sustainable and long-lasting changes in the lives of women and
their families.
2- Local Governance and Leadership Development:
AWO has led and participated in different initiatives to support the development of a regional strategy for enabling good governance of natural resources and to build a broad coalition to foster change, support policy reforms and promote sustainable water and land management.
These initiatives focused on capacity development of local leaders for improved natural resources governance of demonstration projects in Jordan, Palestine, Egypt, Lebanon, and Morocco. The broader RKNOW regional learning network was used to maximize & upscale the learning & development processes between these local leader groups and to access government decision and policy makers.
