Marketing of Local Products to Support Women’s Socio-economic Recovery
Funded by WPHF.
The project aims to economically and socially empower local communities, with focus on women and youth, through the design, production and marketing of various local traditional products, in collaboration with community-based organizations (CBOs).
The socio-economic recovery of women in post-conflict situations is very important; we will ensure that women and girls have the capacity and opportunity to participate in recovery planning. In specific we aim to increase the proportion of women and girl’s informal employment in non-agriculture home-based employment.
Project results and activities:
Result 1: Network and database of small-scale producers and service providers established according to quality standards.
Activities: Retrieve information of local entrepreneurs, CBOs and cooperatives (with focus on women and youth CBOs) that have received grants from government and other donors (MoPIC, etc); survey producers and service providers in the targeted governorates to collect information on their current status and their products and services; employ short-term database development expert and complete an online-interactive database that includes all updated information from the field (ensure technical measures put in place to monitor customer use of database and market demand, working closely with firm being outsourced to develop the e-marketing material). The partners will ensure that information and experience exchange between network of small scale producers and clients and large businesses (wholesale sellers) established and maintained.
Result 2: 3 CBOs and at least 150 women from 3 governorates have increased capacities to effectively develop and market local products
Activities: Assess training needs during the survey stage; conduct a series of capacity development activities in collaboration with existing CBOs that are operating in the geographical area and provide training in areas directly related to marketing and accessing markets; conduct a series of “business-reflection workshops” that focus on effective marketing strategies, to share successful business experience, marketing results and market demands, provide continues technical support and coaching to CBOs and producers/entrepreneurs.
Result 3: Modern marketing techniques adopted and functional for products and services offered to the clients.
Activities: organizing bazaars and open days in the targeted governorates and Amman (the spaces to be provided by municipalities and CBOs); festivals to be organized during the weekends and public holidays where the local producers will be in direct contact with the customers; develop an interactive online database (facebook page/website), outsourced to an expert firm; ensuring appropriate media coverage and attention from clients and private businesses (distributors)
Project outputs:
At least 3 CBOs and 150 local women entrepreneurs empowered to effectively develop and market their local production; 2 TOT workshops organized targeting 30 women and girls (+CBOs); training workshops on marketing and entrepreneurship skills targeting 120 women; awareness campaign organized targeting at least 300 women and girls; Network and database of small scale producers and service providers established according to quality standards; modern marketing techniques adopted and functional for products and services offered to the customers (including the bazaar, facebook page, etc); information and experience exchange between network of small scale producers and larger businesses established and maintained.
The project to be implemented by 3 partners (AWO, ANHRE and AHA) for 2 years in Mafraq, Zarqa and Maan Governorates. Partners help in promoting economic growth, human rights and social progress by promoting entrepreneurship for development and provide assistance and support to those who are disadvantaged and vulnerable where ever they are, address the issues that they consider to be important, encourage them to manage their own development and develop solutions that are appropriate to them and to Jordan. We play a key role in promoting entrepreneurship and small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), in the context of the sustainable development goals, by creating jobs and driving economic growth and innovation, improving social conditions and helping address environmental challenges.
The project will target three different groups of stakeholders: (1) Community based organizations (CBOs), local entrepreneurs with focus on women and youth and formal and informal village committees, (2) Technical staff in local government agencies and NGOs, and (3) Wholesale sellers and private sector.
Duration of project: Jan 2021 to Jan 2023.
