Amman: Equity towards the SDGs
The project aims to address gender inequality and promote gender equity within the Greater Municipality of Amman (GAM) by addressing both the situation of female workers within GAM and the integration of a gender perspective into the organization’s policies and practices. One key strategy for achieving this goal is conducting a gender audit of GAM, which involves reviewing the organization’s policies, practices, and outcomes to identify areas where gender inequality may be present and to make recommendations for improvement. This can help to identify and address any biases or discrimination that may be impacting the experiences of female workers within GAM.
In addition to conducting a gender audit, the project also aims to provide training and mentorship to GAM employees to help them understand the importance of gender equality and how to integrate a gender perspective into their work. This can be particularly important for decision makers, as they may have the ability to shape policies and practices within the organization and to promote a culture of gender equality.
The project also seeks to support the capacity-building and advocacy efforts of women’s civil society organizations in Amman, through the creation of individual mentoring programs and shared work spaces. These efforts can help to empower women in the community and to increase their influence and representation in decision-making processes.
In addition to these strategies, the project aims to raise awareness about gender discrimination, and to create spaces for shared leadership and common struggle among women leaders and those in the process of empowerment. These efforts can help to create a broader culture of gender equality and to promote the empowerment of women in the community. Overall, the project aims to promote gender equity through a combination of institutional changes within GAM and efforts to raise awareness and empower women to participate in the public sphere.
